You can buy the same ones at a big box store
I thought I would try some Havianas because I have been seeing them all over the internet. When I was a kid we always used to have what we called “zoris” for most of the summer and part of the rest of the year. Growing up in California, these were the obligatory shoes for kids. And cheap. Havianas aren’t cheap, but I thought I would try a pair to see if they were sturdier than discount store thong flip flops. The one problem with thong flip flops is they wear out. And a lot of the ones you can purchase at discount stores are made of very cheap materials, not rubber, like they used to do back in the day. These appear to be made of rubber, and it seems like they will last longer than the discount ones. That being said, they probably won’t last all that much longer, and they also have very high straps for some weird reason. You can tell this from the photo. I don’t have skinny feet; my feet are somewhat akin to a ducks and are thick, but these were very loose and when wearing a thong sandal, you don’t want loose straps. I purchased another pair in another color and they were the same so I am assuming this is true for all Havianas. Big box retailers, some of who sell here on Amazon I was happy to find, are now making thongs in more rubber-like materials and I bought some really sturdy retro ones the other day for $2.50. So this was the last pair of Havianas I will be purchasing, regardless of the cute patterns and colors they have. Save your money and just buy another pair of the color you like best at the big box store or here on Amazon so when the first ones wear out, you still have the same color. I could buy 4 pairs and have the same thong for a lot longer than these Havianas will last me, that’s for sure.
